Colony Redux is an installation based on Colony Collapse Disorder (CCD), a serious threat to bee populations, to draw attention to the delicate balance between humans and bees. By using a variety of media and materials, Colony Redux is comprised of worker bees, drones, and a queen. By drawing attention to the beauty of bees, Cadkin’s hope is to inspire viewers to think about their relationship with bees, the human role in CCD, and how we can avoid the “tipping point” of saving bees (and ourselves) from complete collapse.
